Jimmy Baxter, is a native of St. Petersburg, Florida but now resides in Atlanta, Georgia. He attended high school in the St. Petersburg area and became a top recruit for both track & field and basketball. He accepted a scholarship to attend the University of South Florida in Tampa. 

During his time at USF from 2000-04, Baxter was a star both in basketball and track & field. As a high jumper, he was a two-time All-American and two-time Conference USA champion in that event. He also had the third-highest jump in the nation in 2003, set the program record and earned his third straight trip to the NCAA Division I National Championships. He was also named the C-USA Freshman of the Year and competed in the 2004 Olympic trials. He graduated from the USF with a degree in Social Science and a masters in Physiology.

After college, he started playing basketball professionally with the Orlando Magic then moved to Europe where he thrived as one of the top American players in Europe . Baxter went on to play for 12yrs before retiring in 2015.

Additionally, Mr. Baxter has been awarded the NCAA's Award of Valor and was awarded the key to the City of Tampa, Florida. ​
